Janet Mazenier

As a passionate admirer of JMW Turner, I take inspiration from his and Claude Monet's style and approach.

My work is often described as 'wistful' and 'atmospheric' leading the eye through the painting so the viewer gets a sense of 3D as they observe the work.  I work to create a 'painting within a painting' - blending a realistic setting with abstract representation.

The varying moods of nature - sunlight, storm, rain, fog and hills are all aspects which I love to paint.  My work represents the play of light on the hills, the radiance of the skies and the expression of spirituality in the real world.

We live in a country which, being pollution-free, allows the intensity of hue and interest in evanescent light to be captured and the ongoing challenge is to embody this in my work.

In 2010 my work is becoming more oriented to abstract portraiture - watch this space for new images of my work as it evolves.
